Bonnieweka arrives at Foothills Equestrian – Ashburton

August 2023 – Bonnieweka to travel south this month and will enter Foothills Equestrian at Ashburton. Check out Foothills here. We are excited to meet Luke and Emma who come highly recommended and have the facilities to give our new Weka filly a great beginning to her racing career. Once she has completed her education, and when she is ready she will enter the Terri Rae Stable to join her sister Maryweka

July 2023 Bonnieweka is thriving during her spell at Ardsley Stud. She will be back at the track in a week or two to continue her education under the guidance of Wairarapa trainer Jim Wallace. It is expected that she will travel to the South Island to Terri Rae’s stable late September.

We welcome all the syndicate members to the Bonnieweka Syndicate

Bonnie

2021 Spera – Time Test Filly – Syndicate Commences May 2023
Nicknamed Bonnie – how did she get that name you may well ask. Bonnie’s dam is Spera and the word Spera comes from the Latin word meaning Hope. Spera’s dam was Blue Hope. Bonnie was born on September 19th 2021 – Check her out here when she was a foal – it was good and the Latin word for good is ‘Bonum’, so the filly’s paddock name became Bonnie. The syndicate in due course will be required to register a race name. All members will be able to submit names which which will then be cast to a vote, the winner will get bragging rights which will kick in big time if Bonnie lives up to the ability of her sister Maryweka and half sisters Morweka and Wekaforce and stablemate Pennyweka.

2021 Time Test – Spera Filly (nicknamed Bonnie)

The Time Test – Spera filly is a half sister to good fillies Morweka and Wekaforce – checkout the links below for their racing careers, as they were both very good fillies – and now their half sister is about to follow in their footsteps. The word Good in Latin is Bonum and as she comes from a good family we have nicknamed this filly Bonnie. It will be up to her syndicate to decide on her registered race name down the track a bit – in the mean time Bonnie it is!!

The Galloping Wekas are a group of friends and family members who have an interest and a love of horses and racing. The Weka Syndicates were formed in 2013 by breeders Les and Janine Wallace, with their Pentire mare Skyweka, a foundation mare for the Wekas, who went on to score 5 wins, 3 seconds and 4 thirds before retiring. The Weka Syndicates continued on with mares Morweka and Wekaforce , both mares achieving great success for their syndicates. To date the Galloping Weka Syndicates have won 24 races including two Group 1’s. The saga continues and the Wekas are keen and ready to go again. The lastest Weka filly is out of Spera by Time Test – a full sister to 3yo Maryweka, winner of three races and currently in work with trainer Terri Rae. This filly has been broken in by Mark Forbes of Kiltannon Stables in Cambridge. In June she will travel down to trainer Terri Rae to further her education with a view to potentially racing as a two year old – this will be dependent on how she progresses with her education. We extend an invitation to you to join us in the ‘Sport of Kings’ to race the 2021 Time Test – Spera filly. We are pleased to present this information to you. If you are keen to join us then please contact syndicate manager Janine Wallace to secure your share.

Syndication is underway to race the 2021 Time Test – Spera filly A half sister to Morweka and Wekaforce and a full sister to Maryweka. She began her education at Kiltannon Stables under the guidance of Mark Forbes and will travel to Riccarton to Trainer Terri Rae’s stables.

Trainer: Terri Rae will manage the filly’s race career. The filly is due to travel to the South Island within the next month or two. The Weka fillies do travel if their talent warrants it. We expect the filly’s early education and racing will take place in the South Island. If the filly shows ability going forward then travel could be on the agenda – again that decision will be based on the the filly’s ability and the decision of trainer Terri Rae.

Owner / Breeders Les and Janine Wallace will not be taking out any percentage payments. They have retained a 10% share to race the filly with the rest of the syndicate for which they pay the same as all other syndicate members. There is no right of purchase on the filly
